Service Learning Projects 2017-2018

Grade Project Description
Kinder Prep Serving Others Kinder Prep has chosen to highlight a member of our community, Rose Bickerstaff, to serve. Together, they will be fostering a relationship that connects our youngest citizens with our more seasoned citizens.  
Kindergarten Building Community Kindergarten is eager to connect with other students in an effort to develop social and emotional skills through playing board games and other interactive activities.
First Grade Connecting With Our Seniors Bridging the gap between generations can be a challenge. Our first grade class is making strides to connect with our seniors by singing songs, playing games, and reading with them.
Second Grade Increasing Literacy in Our Community Second Grade has made admirable strides to increase literacy in our immediate community. With the assistance of Dick Jacobsen, they’ve have designed, built, and installed a Little Free Library in the Belle Haven area.
Third Grade Spreading Cheer Third graders hope to partner with our local children’s hospital to provide games, school supplies, cards and other items that will lift the spirits of those children affected by illness.
Fourth Grade Recycling and Waste Management Fourth Grade is learning about the dangers unfiltered waste is having on our environment. They are maintaining our recycling programs and educating other students about which bins to discard their waste in.
Fifth Grade Care for Animals After taking weeks of classes with ladies from the Palo Alto Humane Society, our fifth graders have cultivated a greater sense of empathy for animals.
Sixth Grade Earthquake Preparedness Sixth graders are busy learning about the formation of earthquakes and their devastating effects. To serve our community, they are learning ways to better stay safe: where to go, what to items to have on hand, etc.
Seventh/Eight Grade Assisting the Impoverished Our leaders on campus are working with local organizations like Ecumenical Hunger Program, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Anthony’s to feed and provide necessary goods to the less fortunate.
