As we put the finishing touches on another successful school year, I want to make you aware of some personnel changes that are happening here at Beechwood.
Ms. Mary-Eileen Gallagher our 2nd/3rd grade teacher will be leaving Beechwood on May 30th. She has done a great job for us bringing engaging lessons to our students and building community in her classroom. We have found a long-term sub to work with the 3rd graders for the summer term. Her name is Ms. Caitlyn Dissinger. Caitlyn has served as a long term sub before as well as a PE teacher. She is currently studying to get her Masters from San Jose State. Welcome aboard Caitlyn! We will begin the search for a permanent replacement for Ms. Gallagher immediately. That person will take over the 3rd Grade in the Fall.
Ms. Gayl Giannik, who has served so capably in our Academic Support Department for the past 6 years, most recently as the Coordinator, is leaving Beechwood as well. Teachers, students and parents have all benefited from her expertise and she will be greatly missed. Mrs. Diana Pantoja will take over as our Academic Support Coordinator beginning in the Fall. Diana has extensive experience both as a school psychologist and a teacher. She will take over the duties of assessing students who are struggling in school and of arranging services for them here at Beechwood. We are so pleased that we were able to find such qualified person to take over this role.
Our outstanding and reliable intern, Ms. Aliza Hussain is moving on to Graduate School in Virginia. What a blessing it has been to have Aliza here. Her positive attitude, flexibility and helpfulness will be hard to replace. Her position will be taken over by Mr. John Christopherson who will graduate from the University of Oregon in June. John has previous experience here at Beechwood, having worked as a Summer Aide for the past 3 years.
I also want to make you aware of an important volunteer opportunity. We will be packing up and moving to the new campus the weeks of June 2-6 and June 9-13. Please sign up to come and help us with this work. Your hours can count for this year or next year.
Thank you parents for all you do for your children and for our school. We appreciate you.
-Mr. Laurance
